Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut Game Review

Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut PS3 release is by far one of the more unique and odd gaming experiences I’ve encountered. The game has a Twin Peaks vibe which overshadows the game’s shortcomings.

Mario Kart 8 Preview

At this year’s E3 it was a struggle to even get inside the Nintendo booth. The lines were incredibly long, the floor space was overly crowded and you just couldn’t get from one game to another. Luckily, I got to play one of the Wii U’s biggest games, and that was Mario Kart 8. I’m a huge Mario Kart fan so I was pretty pumped to get some hands on time. Keep in mind, the build I played at E3 this year was very much a work in progress.

The Last of Us

Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us is a third-person adventure that walks a fine line between survival-horror and action. If Naughty Dog sounds familiar, it’s probably because you’ve played (or at least heard of) the Uncharted series which, like this game, is a PlayStation exclusive. There’s a lot this game shares with its gun-toting, treasure-hunting cousins. Naughty Dog, over the past several years, has been honing its craft of creating expansive, immersive worlds filled with breathtaking visuals, smart dialogue, and an engaging story. All of that carries over to The Last of Us, resulting in a game that (mostly) shines from its opening moments to the closing credits.

Skylanders Swap Force Preview

In 2011 Activision released Skylanders, which was set in Spyro the Dragon’s universe. The game was innovative, and the folks at Nintendo probably kicked themselves for not coming up with it first. Basically, you have action figures that you set on this portal device and the toys come to life in an action beat-em-up brawler. It was immediately the most sought after toy for Christmas that year. Activision followed up with a sequel in 2012 and a third installment will come out this year as well.

Halo 4 Spartan Ops, Simple Tips for Beating Spartan Ops on Legendary

This article provides many useful tips that you can use when playing Halo 4 Spartan Ops. I discuss the major differences between the campaign and Spartan Ops, how to create the ideal loadout, and how to use this loadout to kill all of the different types of enemies. I also include 12 useful tips unique to Spartan Ops that make it even easier. By following this guide, you should be able to beat each mission on Legendary with relative ease.

Beyond: Two Souls Preview

When I was in the Sony booth, I got to check out one of their first party games: Beyond: Two Souls. I must admit, I haven’t really followed this title since it was announced last year. I’m a big fan of the creator’s previous game Heavy Rain, so this title was right up my alley. With great gameplay, sexy visuals and some of the best story telling in gaming, this is sure to be one of the best games to come out on the now elderly PlayStation 3.

Crimson Dragon Preview

One of the most exciting things about this year’s E3 Expo has to be the new consoles. Last year we had Wii U but this time Nintendo has some serious competition from Sony and Microsoft. As I raced through the halls I tried to find an Xbox One or a PlayStation 4 game to test out first. When I waddled through the crowded Xbox Show Room, I was greeted with Crimson Dragon. It’s an Xbox One exclusive and it comes from the genius Yukio Futatsugi, the creator of three previous Panzer Dragoon titles. I even had the opportunity to meet Mr. Futatsugi as he was standing right behind me watching me play his game. So how was the title? Fun, but seemed pretty buggy. Keep in mind this is a work in progress- this game isn’t an Xbox One launch title so it still has a ways to go before its release.

Forza 5 Preview

I have no idea why I like the Forza franchise so much. I’m really not that into cars or manufacturers. I could care less if I’m driving a Geo Metro or an Enzo Ferrari but when I play a Forza game I’m all of a sudden a car nut. I was extremely pumped to play the next generation’s version, Forza 5. I waited in line at E3 for about an hour to check this one out and I’m happy to report that this game delivers. Racing fans and non-racing fans rejoice: this is a must have title for Xbox One’s launch this November.

The Knack Preview

It’s day two of E3 for me, and I’m waiting anxiously to get inside the show room floor. Finally the clock hits 10 and we’re let inside. Everyone scrambles to their destinations, some looking for swag (freebies) and some are looking for business ventures. Me? I’m looking to finally have some hands on time with Sony’s new PlayStation 4. Luckily for me the wait was incredibly short for their new launch title, Knack. With its charming and addictive gameplay, it’ll be a great choice for anyone this November when the new system launches. I didn’t get a whole lot information when it came to gameplay but during my time with the playable E3 demo, I was beating up enemies who wore plate armor and seemed to be shooting purple lava projectiles. I was hit by their indigo firepower and I noticed my character losing health and getting a little bit smaller. That’s the thing in Knack, your health and size are one and the same. Luckily for you, you can grow in size and recover your health when you bust open these red mailbox looking boxes floating around the levels.

Deadpool Preview

Today was a pretty special day. I finally got hands on time with the new Deadpool game on the PlayStation 3. I’ve heard quite a bit about this game and the trailers were really clever and funny but the one thing they omitted was the actual game play. I took this as a warning because this game was due out relatively soon. The only hope I had was that High Moon Studios was developing the game, and luckily for us, they did a great job. For the most part.

The Kingdom Hearts Experience

Are you a fan of Final Fantasy? What about Disney? Are you a gamer? If you are, than Kingdom Hearts may be a series looking into if you haven’t. Combining platforming, RPG elements, epic story, and 6 titles so far (at least in the Xenahort saga), its one of the best game series of this generation (and the next.

With One Announcement, One Company May Just Win the Game Wars

Kingdom Hearts 3 has been anticipated since 2006. With its announcement at E3 2013, could Sony be the victor of the console and game wars?
